September 21, 2015 UPDATE: The winners of the contest have been selected and contacted via email. Thanks to everyone who entered!
We’ve had a few week’s of Merchandise Monday now, and we’re so excited to continue to share our geeky collectibles with you! Sometimes, we highlight a single item, like Alice’s Marauder’s Map or my Bag End Miniature. Other times, it makes sense to show sets of items, like Maria’s Ghostbuster Funko Pop Vinyls. Today, I’m going to do a round-up of my geeky lunchboxes…and maybe you can add to your collection with our giveaway!
Let’s start with the one that’s not pictured. My husband and I actually have another R2-D2 lunch box that’s admittedly not as cool as the one shown here, but it’s a lot more practical! He is filled with medicine, and we carry him around practically everywhere, in case we need something for a headache or if we forgot to take an allergy pill. We call him our “health droid” because he repairs us when we take damage.
This R2-D2 lunchbox is so cute, but to be honest, because of his shape, it’s actually hard to find many uses for him. We got this one at Hollywood Studios in Disney World. We were grabbing breakfast at a little cafe in the park, and we spotted a bunch of these little guys. We asked the lady who was ringing up our order how much it would be to buy one. She said it was free with a kids meal. We decided that after we finished eating, we would go back and order a kids meal, and either give it away or have it as a snack later. But before we had a chance, the lady came over to our table and just gave it to us for free! She was so nice, and this lunchbox holds a special place in our hearts.
This Wonder Woman lunchbox was a gift from my hubby right before I went on a trip. I was travelling to the Denny’s headquarters in South Carolina to cover the release of a special Hobbit themed menu for Middle-earth News. Unbeknownst to me, he had purchased this little lunchbox for me and filled it with snacks for my trip! It was so sweet!
There is this cool old fashioned candy shop near us that we like to visit, and in addition to yummy candies, sodas, and ice cream flavors, they also have cool art on the walls and all kinds of geeky lunchboxes! We got this Star Wars lunchbox on one of our trips to satisfy our sweet tooth, and we ended up carrying all of our candy home in it. It’s now the place where we put candy when we don’t want to have it out in the open, constantly tempting us. I have to tell you–it works! There are so many times when I’ve opened this lunch box and had completely forgotten what we had secreted away inside!
This Avengers lunchbox is so new, that I don’t really have any stories for it yet! What can I say? I like the Avengers, and Captain America is my favorite, so I like that he’s in the foreground. I think we’ll have to take this one on a few adventures so we can have an epic tale to tell!
September 4, 2015 was Force Friday, the day when a ton of new Star Wars merchandise would hit stores ahead of the December release of the new movie. Hubby went and checked out a bunch of places on Friday itself, but since I was at work, we made a trip to Target together on the following day. Some stuff was obviously already sold out, but we got to see some awesome toys that I would have loved as a kid (who am I kidding? I love it now)! We were really in the Star Wars aisle for a long time, and employees kept coming over and asking if we would like a free Star Wars lunchbox. By now, you know our propensity for geeky lunchboxes, so we said, “Yes!”
In the end, we ended up with a bunch of extras, so it seems like the best thing to do is to have a giveaway! If you would like to win one of these Target-exclusive Force Friday lunchboxes, leave a comment below. You can tell us what you’re most looking forward to in the new Star Wars movie, what adventures you would go on with your new lunchbox, or which of these lunchboxes I’ve shared is your favorite. All the matters is that you leave a comment by midnight (Eastern Time) on Sunday, September 20! Good luck and may the Force be with you!
I have had plenty of geeky lunchboxes over the years. Right now, I’m using a Spider-Man one for my work lunches (paired with an old school Lion King thermos). I really surprised no one at work has mentioned it to me yet since everyone else seems to carry boring adult lunch bags.

What I’m look so forward to is enjoying the movie with my 10 year old. He has become such a Star Wars fan to the point where he can’t understand when other people haven’t seen the movie. His soon to be step brothers refuse to watch the movies and it drives him nuts. He is such a huge fan- probably as big as me- and has already asked me how we are going to be able to open our presents from Santa and see the movie all on the same day. The kiddo wears a Star Wars shirt to school just about everyday and would adore the lunchbox. He is even thinking about starting a Star Wars club at his school. I’m such a fandom gal that it makes my heart swell when I see him following in my shoes. He has a count down of how many days until the premiere! Seeing his face when that iconic music starts playing will just be so amazing. I get the chills thinking about it! (Sorry emotional mama here!)

That is super-duper adorable! I have to admit that I am in the same boat as he is…how have people NOT seen Star Wars?? Tell him to keep being amazing. 😀

I really like the R2-D2 lunch box because I think it’s just so unique and so cute! And I also love the story behind it, that you got it at Disney for free from a kind soul! ❤

So great! 🙂
I love finding ways to use lunchboxes around the house; I have one that holds my candy stash, & one that holds knitting supplies!

Great thinking! For some reason, I’ve been so stuck on them holding food. Now you’re giving me ideas… 😉

I love your collection! The R2-D2 one is definitely my favorite because it’s so unique, but I can imagine it’s not super practical for carrying lunch around:P At least it makes for an adorable display!

This is so beautiful, I will have to reconsider lunch boxes I have! I like the best the Avenger and Wonder Woman boxes (didn’t even know I’m so into superheroes)!

So awesome! I really love the R2D2 and Avengers lunchboxes – I only ever had boring lunchboxes as a kid and now I want a fun one! I’m really excited about Han and Chewy coming back for Star Wars, as well as a more diverse cast! Can’t wait to see what they do with their new female character, she seems like a badass.

Since that one is not part of the giveaway, I figured I’d better give you more information so you can find it yourself! It was made by Vandor, and since they make LOTS of pop culture lunchboxes and items, this is #75270. All of the prices I’ve seen online are stupid, so you’d probably do better by looking in brick and mortar shops that carry novelty items like these. 🙂

Thank you! I’ll have to look it up. Not sure I’ll find s brick and mortar in Japan that carries it, though, haha. Thank you!

Geeky lunchboxes are the best! I am in love with your Wonder Woman lunchbox, especially since it the retro Wonder Woman as opposed to the modern version.
